Israeli novelist Yoav Avni and British author Jack Davies come together at Owl Bookshop for an evening of fiction, time, secrets and storytelling.

Celebrating the publication of Avni's *Time Clocks* and Davies's *Jove*, the two writers will discuss their novels and the many ways fiction can play with realism, mystery, suspense, time travel, espionage, memory and humour.

Join us for a special conversation about Homes, Hauntedness and Belonging, exploring what happens when the spectral enters the domestic and what haunted houses reveal about the worlds we inhabit.

Together, Caitlin Blackwell Baines, Essie Fox and Leon Craig will discuss how spectral encounters, genre expectations and historical accounts can all be analysed to consider who belongs and who is left out. From Catherine's clever feminist retelling of Wuthering Heights, to The Decadence's hedonistic nightmare holiday ensemble, and How to Build a Haunted House's erudite non-fiction journey from Strawberry Hill to Himeji Castle in Japan, these works interrogate familiar ideas of hauntedness and the stories we tell about our homes. Whom do we exclude and whom do we welcome inside? How can the past and present coexist?
At heart, haunted houses are never just about ghosts. They are also about ownership, power, memory and the cultural anxieties of the places and times in which they appear. Gather round for troublesome ghosts, gothic drama and pre-Halloween atmosphere.

The radical response to conservative heritage tours and banal day-tripper guides, Rebel Footprints brings to life the history of social movements in the capital. Transporting readers from well-known landmarks to history-making hidden corners, David Rosenberg tells the story of protest and struggle in London from the late eighteenth to the mid-twentieth century. From the suffragettes to the socialists, from the Chartists to the trade unionists, the book invites us to step into the footprints of a diverse cast of dedicated fighters for social justice.

Self-directed walks pair with narratives that seamlessly blend history, politics and geography, and beautifully illustrated maps immerse the reader in the story of the city. Whether you are visiting it for the first time, or born and raised in it, Rosenberg invites you to see London as you never have before: the nation's capital as its radical centre.

Join us for an evening with Forward Prize-winning poet and novelist Luke Kennard as he discusses his sharp, satirical new novel, Black Bag which has been longlisted for the Booker Prize.

A penniless and out-of-work actor picks up a job working for Dr Blend, a university professor who is conducting a psychological experiment. How will Dr Blend's students react to someone zipped into on oversized bag, sitting at the back of the lecture hall over a series of autumn term lectures? The role, eagerly accepted, soon has unexpected consequences.

A professor of post-humanism develops research questions of her own, in particular can you love someone secreted away inside a black bag? Meanwhile, the actor's childhood friend and flatmate forms a vision for monetising this new situation . . .

A warped campus novel, an investigation into the crisis of masculinity and an off-kilter love story, Black Bag is a firework of a novel: blazingly funny and profoundly humane.
